fightingthecage: (DC Bond - Suit and Gun)

Just watched Quantum of Solace for the first time. And wow, that was different. I'm...quite surprised how much I liked it, given that it's practically nothing like a traditional Bond movie.

Dominic - HAHAHAHA! Watching him trying to fight Bond was quite hilarious, though I'm still wincing at the axe-through-the-toes thing. Strange sort of Bond villian though.

Camille - really really surprised how much I liked her. Totally non-cliched and the scene in the burning room actually made me tear up.

M - I couldn't love her any more. Seriously.

James - goes without saying, he's the best thing ever. Is he the perfect man? Oh fuck yes.

As a movie, I don't know. If you took James out of it, it really could have just been any action movie. They made a conscious decision to remove all the things that would make this movie quintessentially Bond and while it's still a good movie...fuck it, it's not a Bond movie. Bits of it are but on the whole, no.

Having said that, I still pretty much loved it. And ohmyfuckingGod, I more than love Daniel Craig. Unf!

And that's all I have to say about that.

Does anyone have the theme for Quantum of Solace? The Jack White and Whatsherface one? And would you be willing to upload it for me if you have? I love that song stupid amounts and would be eternally grateful. :) Can't wait to buy the Blu-ray on Tuesday.

Life continues the way it does. Mowed the grass this morning as it was FUCKING BEAUTIFUL all day. It was ridiculously satisfying. Roll on summer; I love winter but this one has been loooooooong and I'm ready for some heat.

I only have a total of eight weeks of lessons left. Eleven really, but three of them are holidays. And then two weeks of exams which I'm OK with because I don't mind these exams. If I get D's or E's on every paper, I'll still get A's overall and that can never be a bad thing!

I feel very blah and tired and unmotivated for everything because I slept too long last night - by too long, I mean more than five hours. So I'm knackered and want to go to bed but if I sleep too much tonight I'll just feel like shit tomorrow as well. Bleurgh.

OK, I have nothing interesting to say. I will just go and click random things and pass some time.

Ha! A Friday of nearly all awesome! College this morning was OK because one half of the Duo from HELL was not there which actually meant the other one shut up. Miracle! Also, I love history. And politics. And when you get a chance to listen to the teacher teaching, it's made of awesome.

Also? If I were male, or gay, I would totally have a crush on Margaret Thatcher. Make of that what you will.

Anyway, in the afternoon,

there was bondage )

Adverts in cinema's go on forever these days. But I did kill myself laughing over the one for Chanel No. 5. Anyone else seen this? It's a mini-movie, produced and directed by Baz Luhrman and starring Nicole Kidman. Ostensibly, she's Chanel but the whole thing is a play on Moulin Rouge. She virtually re-enacts several scenes from MR, talks and dances like Satine, she and her Christian stand-in (an unbelievably gorgeous Spanish or Italian dude) do the whole 'love you forever' thing and hold each other in the way they did in the film and...it's actually fun to watch. And romantic, in a pretentious kind of way. It's nice that they're sort of taking the piss out of themselves while promoting perfume - and Nicole Kidman looked amazing. Truly beautiful. I was both laughing, and impressed.

...and then the effect was spoiled by a full minute of credits that came up on screen. Yes, credits. For a three-minute commercial for perfume, complete with individual screens for 'Starring...', 'Directed and Produced by...' and the music producer, followed by fucking tons of make up artists, cameramen etc etc ad nauseum. This is why it was pretentions.

I am clearly talking too much. But *squeee* Bond! I so adore. No I'll go and blather somewhere else. But go see the movie!

ETA: Hahahaha, I love YouTube. Chanel No. 5. And really, I could forgive it anything simply because it uses Debussy's Clair de Lune as music. It also seems to have been around for ages so y'all probably know all about it anyway.

No, I don't know why an advert is bugging me this much. Overtired, I think. Yes.
