Rock n Roll ain't noise pollution
May. 12th, 2006 03:48 amAnother set of questions from the interview meme, this time from
1) First movie star crush or book character crush. I may have asked you that before but it's my favourite question ever.
Awww man, this is so embarassing to admit. Ummm. *headdesks* Hannibal from the A Team. I had such a crush on him - and damn, I'm willing to bet that a bunch of people on my flist are too young even to remember the A Team. But yeah, I was madly in love with him when I was about seven. Heh.
2) Borrowing the six people question, because that one's bloody interesting (This was a question on which six people would you like to have over for a dinner party).
Rrr. Okay...Freddie Mercury for one, the lead singer of Queen. Fascinating guy and I was totally in love with him for the longest time. His voice is nothing short of stunning.
And...for much the same reasons...Frank Sinatra. He fascinates me because he was such a total bastard and clearly affiliated with the mob and violent as all hell - and yet, the most liberal, not-rasict, dog-loving, loyal friend as well. And a voice to die for. Yeah, I love musicians.
Leonardo da Vinci. Because obviously, he as a genius. And I'd like to just talk to him and try to figure out where his inspiration came from and what made him try to design things that could fly hundreds of years before humans actually managed it. I think he'd be crazy, but inspirational.
Oscar Wilde. Is any explanation really necessary? The guy was a wonderful writer and a gentleman, hilarious and urbane - and ended life in disgrace. I think it's an interesting contradiction and would like to get to ask him about it. Or just enjoy his banter over dinner.
Henry V. Battle of Agincourt. Yeah, I'd want to know about that. And ask how he went from being a playboy Prince to a rather bloody good King.
Plato. I like visionaries. And philosophers and scientists and...basically anyone more intelligent than I am. They interest me because I can learn stuff from them. So Plato, so I coud pick his brains and also stand in awe of the man.
3) You wish you had learned to _______ when you were little.
Hmmm. Hard one this, because my mother saw to it that my sister and I got to learn a lot of things when we were small. I could say things like sing, or dance...but actually, I'd probably go with something more obtuse. And say that I wish I had learnt to talk to people a little better. Because I was a complete loner as a child and have a tendency to slip back into that now, no matter how social I am at other times - but it means that I'm woefully short of small talk and if I'm not in a social mood, I tend to not even bother attempting to talk to people and can come across as rude or stand-offish, even though I don't mean it that way. So yeah.
4) The most sentimental knicknack/item/whatever you have close to you at this moment.
*looks around* Eh. I don't really have objects that I find sentimental and none around my desk at present. Oooh though - there's a picture that my buddy drew for me for my birthday two years ago, that's kinda awesome. I never had someone draw me something before. Also, I have the first ever dollar coin I got when I went to NYC for the first time. Up until then I'd only ever had notes, so I kept the coin. They're not overly sentimental to me but they're the closest things to it I have nearby right now.
5) The memory you think of as the earliest thing you can recall.
Easy one this. It was when I was eighteen months old and driving away from the house we lived in in Kent at the time. I clearly remember getting strapped in and looking back at the red door of our house, and driving past the fire station that was close by while my sister chanted a song.
What's bizarre about this memory is - my mother strapped me in and my father was driving the car. But it never occurred to me that my father was driving until last year sometime. Up until then, I'd never given any thought to who was driving, even though I know my mother wasn't. And as such, it's the only memory I have of all four of us being together, as my parents split up a year later - I just find it bizarre that it took me twenty five years before I realised that that was the case. Hmm. But yeah. Earliest memory.
