Rarr! Interview meme that I asked for in [livejournal.com profile] winterowl's journal. Questions and answers abound!

Edit: I just read the inntructions of what I was supposed to do...

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.

3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

My answers then...

1. Real name? (first only, lol, i'm not being scary, I promise.)

Heh. It's Helena. Prounounced Hell-ee-na, not Hel-u-na. I fucking hate it when people get it wrong but no one ever calls me that anyway. It's Lena to my mother, Beanie to my sister and Leno to all my friends. :D

2. What is your comfort object?

I don't have one. I'm not a person that takes comfort from objects. Or...actually, people either, for that matter. If I'm upset about something I'll just be by myself and wait until it stops upsetting me. Considering that few things wind me up anyway, it's not often a problem. Life's too short to spend it being upset.

3. When did you start writing?

Two years ago. I've never sat down and attempted to write properly before that, save for the odd story in school. I wanted to write about the three months I spent in LA that year though - and I spent a lot of time writing a journal during that trip actually. But I wasn't happy with what was coming out because I wasn't putting much thought into it. And then, in the summer of 2004, I thought about writing a fanfic for 24 and the idea jut grabbed me so I went for it. The results were much better because I had already-established characters to play with and I learnt how to think about what they were doing and why- and now I can write original characters too. Although I don't too often because it's harder work and I'm lazy as hell. *g*

4. Why do you want to move to the US?

The people are nicer and are actually positive about things. The scenery is amazing. The weather is better. Admittedly, I don't think much of the food and the beer is crap, but I can live with that.

But ultimtely, it's the attitudes of the people here. When I'm in America, I can walk into any bar alone and end up having the most fantastic time, just talking to random people and drinking with them and playing pool and having fun. I love it more than anything. In the UK, if you walk into a pub alone, you'll spend the evening alone. No one tends to leave their group of friends when they're out. People here are negative and narrow-minded and I hate that.

The exception to that is London. I can go into pubs in London and meet people, probably because of the amount of tourists and people from abroad there are in the place. And this? Is why London is my favourite place in the UK. But no, America's where I want to live. It feels like home, every time I'm there. I'm 100% happier when I'm there.

5.Sexual preference? (LOL I'm just being all kinds of nosey today...)

No problem with nosy! I don't mind personal questions. And to answer this one - I'm straight. I just love guys far too much not to be. I get on with them a lot better than with women in general. I've had offers to sleep with chicks before and have always turned them down - fooled around with one once but mainly because I was blind drunk and had just shagged her husband. Heh, that's probably the addendum to my answer actually - when I'm drunk, I tend to be up for anything. So I'm not saying I'd never sleep with a woman, just that it's not my natural inclination.

Y'all get different names when you're confirmed? I had no idea, that's awesome. Andin truth, I quite like Helena. I just can't stand that no one ever pronounces it right and it's never been used in my life, ever. It's not a name that rolls off the tongue - not with my accent anyway.

John Shea! That's him. Ah yes, he'd get it, for sure. I love him. I also totally fangirled Lois and Clark, heh. Dean Cain is a babe and a half.
