Two Tough Questions

Question 1:

If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion? Read the next question before looking at the response for this one.

Question 2:

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates.

Candidate A.

Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with an astrologist. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B.

He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C.

He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, only drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife. Which of these candidates would be your choice? Decide first ... no peeking, then check under the cut for the response.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Candidate B is Winston Churchill.

Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question: If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.

Heh - my opinion on this? Is that it shows that a person can take drugs, drink a hell of a lot, fuck whomever they want - even people they're not married to - and it still doesn't stop them being a good leader. Or a decent person. Tabloid papers should take note next time they want to trash a politician who admits they slept with a hooker or occasionally smoke a J.

I rutting hate these questions. I especially hate type a) when ruddy lifers use them.

My answers?

- No. I would never recommend someone has an abortion. I'm pro-CHOICE, and choice means CHOICE, not having their mind made up by anyone.

- Feckin' policies. I vote for the candidates based on their POLICIES ffs.

(note - not an attack on you, Write, as I'm sure you got)

Heh, for sure. These things make me laugh because they're so obviously trick questions. And do they really think we'll all go 'Wow, Hitler was really not that bad?' or what?

I would hope that people would take the thing like me - see that it's not a leader's personal life that matters when it comes to leading a country.

I'm ambivalent about the abortion one and would laugh if a pro-lifer used it, simply because - well, hell, maybe the 'next Beethoven' has already been terminated. Only they're not the next Beethoven, because they were never born and how the hell is someone suppose to know in advance? And of course - does musical ability (as an example) make a child more worthy to live or something? Pfffft.

I've seen this before. It goes to show that there are exceptions to any rule.

I always loved drug using drunkards, but vegetarians I've always considered suspicious.

I never really liked these questions much - it's not like Hitler's personal life was completely clean before he came to power in Germany, or during it, and it's not like Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt had only being drunken playboys to their names, either. No one can make judgments based on those kind of statements, it's like saying "Oh, Saddam Hussein was quite the philanthropist." When you pick and choose like that, you can misrepresent just about everyone.

And people tend to use that Beetoven (sometimes Jesus) question to try to prove some point about how abortion is wrong, completely ignoring the fact that a fetus =/= the person they may or may not become (funnily enough, other choices and circumstances affect who we become besides our being born), so yeah.

Flipping Heck, I just killed Beethoven and voted for Hitler. I feel awful! I was so going to go for candidate B cause I knew it'd be a trick question, but then I confused myself and thought maybe if I voted for him, the answer would be 'you're a sicko. You're ruining your country!' so I changed my vote...Gawd that's ruined my day!! Im a monster!!
