fightingthecage: (SPN - Dean B&W)

OK, I have to get the incoherent screaming out of the way first. I will write it normally but rest assured, I am internally screeching in terror.

Paintings that move freak me the fuck out. They always have. If I had watched this episode (as I normally do) in the evening, when it's dark, I probably wouldn't sleep for the next two nights. I mean, I can't get the image of the Reaper out of my head and that episode (where Dean got healed) isn't one that I found particularly scary. This one? Oh yeah. SO GLAD IT IS LIGHT OUTSIDE!

In other, more coherent, ramblings - the thing I like about this show, apart from the relationship between Sam and Dean, is that it's so simple. It just takes every childhood fear and makes it real. Who hasn't, as a child, heard twigs against a window and imagined them to be fingers? Who hasn't thought there was something hiding in their wardrobe or under their bed? Who hasn't heard stories of men with hooks preying on teenagers on back roads, or the bogeyman coming to get you when you're in bed at night? Or haunted houses and magic symbols and asylums where the patients haunt the place? Basically, it's all about reawakening the fear of things that go bump in the night. Everyone can connect to this stuff in one form or another. It's so simple and that's why it works so well, I think. Throw in the great family dynamic and backstory, fill it with beautiful people = winner! It's like a set of modern day ghost stories and an upgrade of The X-Files rolled into one.

Here endeth the ramble. I needed that, to take my mind off the SCARYASS KID WITH A RAZOR BLADE! *shudder*

Oh man, I'm so glad I'm not the only person who's watching S1 for the first time! I just finished it yesterday, and I rrrrrreally need to see S2 now.

The paintings-that-move thing is pretty darn creepy. I've been tiptoeing around my own house in a state of mild panic for the past 24 hours.

I'm a young woman! I belong to a highly at-risk demographic for supernatural death.

Yes! Me too! That's why, y'know, I now live in permanent fear of mutilation/throat slashing/kidnapping/attack-by-hookman...the list goes on!

Ain't it awesome though? I am very glad I got hold of all of it before I started watching *couchcanonsharecough* so now I can just keep going with it - I was feeling very 'whut?' about all the squeeing on my flist and now I know what everyone's on about!

(Paintings that move are my #2 freakout thing, after devil possession and before haunted asylums. I don't know why I'm watching this show)

(I DON'T KNOW WHY I'M WATCHING THIS SHOW EITHER. I am so easily frightened by horror tropes.)

Apparently we're going to buy season two tonight, however! So, uh, yay? :D I really do like it-- I mean, there are some elements I don't much like, but for the most part Sam and Dean are awesome and I love them forever.

(Again, me too! I am a total wuss when it comes to possession etc. *shudder*)

EEEEEEEEE I just finished S1. Literally two minutes ago. And I swear I will never sleep again, because hello, black eyes are fucked up and now I am scared.
