Before I attempt homework

...I'll finish off the answers to the questions I was asked in that meme. Ahhhh, procrastination.

and all I have to say is AHAHAHA! What a question. Because...Lord, complicated.
I vote Conservative and always have. I don't like the Labour party. As a (loose) reference to the Americans who dont know anything about UK politics - the Conservatives are more like the Republicans and Labour are more like Democrats. In theory anyway. In reality...well, since the advent of 'New Labour' when Tony Blair became leader of the party in 1995, there has been very little difference between the two parties.
I admit that I'm slightly skewed in one way - 'Old' Labour was strongly based on the power of trade unions and was more than a little socialist. I could never vote for a party like that. Now though...well, I wouldn't consider voting for a leftist party. It's sort of their past that really holds me back from seeing them objectively. But when it comes to right now and their policies - I can't stand the nanny state they've created. I can't stand the way they interfere in every part of our lives and try and tell us what to think and how to act and what to eat and drink and how to raise our kids and what cars to drive and...the list goes on. I can't stand it.
With the Conservatives - traditionally, they believe in less government interference. Margaret Thatcher probably took it to extremes and things were very hard on people for a long time in the 80's. But ultimately, Britain did well out of that decade and I just prefer the way that the Tories don't interfere so much and just let people like their lives. OK, they take away a lot of the safety nets too - and I'll probably be screwed without them - but at least it doesn't feel like Big Brother is Watching all the time.
Of course, most of this is moot. The two main parties are almost exactly the same at the moment and it doesn't look like its going to change any time soon. So, I will stay with the Conservatives and when they do get into power, will probably not even notice the change.

Tough one. Because you could talk to me about any period of the past and I would be fascinated. It's hard to pick just one era. Ummm...well. Damn, this is harder than I thought it would be. The problem is that I've only ever really studied 20th Century history because that's what my school and college curriculums have offered. Interest in other areas is purely from things I've picked up on my own.
So...Roman. That's a big favourite. I love the whole concept of Empire. For that reason, the whole reign of the British Empire too - it's just all so exotic with the East India Trading Company and the spice and silk trading and the Orient and Africa (Heart of Darkness is one of my all time favourite books). I love all that. Also, anything to do with British monarchy - I just dig all the intruige and chopping each others' heads off and families turning on each other.
Worldwide - I've read a few book on the Chinese Dynasties, which are fascinating. I love Greek Mythology and Pagan Gods...argh. So many different things!
Overall, I think I'd have to go with the Romans as my ultimate favourites. There's just so much to the whole era and I love it all.
