He's dirty to the bone, beware of the dog

1. Suppose, for some strange reason, Time Lords had forbidden you from ever seeing another gig ever again, but as compensation they were letting you nip in the TARDIS to see one last band. Who, when, and why?
Easy! Queen, Wembley Staduim, July 12th, 1986. Queen were - and still are to a large degree - my favourite band when I was younger. They put on an amazing show and Freddie Mercury just has the best voice ever. The two Wembley dates they did that year are pretty legendary and I'd give anything to have seen one of them live. Also, it was the last time they ever toured. There weren't even many more one-off live gigs after that so it would fantastic to be there.
2. Where’s your favourite place to be?
New York City. No question. Its the only place that ever really feels like home. If I was confined to living in one place only, forever, that would be it and I'd be quite happy.
3. What would you ideal job be? Both realistic and fantasy.
Hahaha. Awful question, because there are so many things I'd like to do. Which is mainly the reason I can never do any of them, 'cos I just can't decide. Ummm. Realistic - writer or civil servant, though I'll never now be able to do the kind of civil service jobs I'd like to be able to as will have child. Fantasy - weeeelllll. I dunno. I used to want to be an actor. Obsessively so. I find it hard to think of that as a 'fantasy' job though, as its perfectly attainable with some hard work. And I'm not so sure I'd like it anymore. Director, maybe? Superspy? It's difficult for me to pick a fantasy job because I tend to believe that I can do anything if I really want to.
...oh wait. Astronaut. Yeah, definitely. That'd be a fantasy job at my age, and I'd still love to do it.
4. RP! Yay! Whose your fave character to play, and why?
Ramon, without question. He's just fun. Smirky and snarky and violent and with no regard whatsoever for people's feelings, even (or maybe especially) if they're total strangers. And he's not afraid of pain so I can get him beat up and have him laugh through it, he's mega-rich and arrogant and smarmy and cheesy and I just love him.
5. Free will: does it, really, when we all get down to it, actually exist?
Yes. And no.
My personal thinking on this matter goes as follows: We have a preordained path. But we don't know what it is, obviously, so we still have to make choices. And the choices are no less difficult or easy because of any pre-ordainedness of the outcome, because a) we don't know what the outcome will be, and b) they're made difficult or easy by our own personalities, nature or personal moral values. This is why I feel that when I make a decision that makes me feel terrible, I know I can't sleep easy until I've put it right - my free will made me choose the wrong thing at first, I then chose to put it right and be happy again and ultimately, it was destined that I would prefer to feel happy than guilty because that's how I've been made. It's preordained by my own personality.
If we're getting into whether God has given us free will or written our lives for us when we're born...well, I think both. As long as we're ignorant of our destiny, free will is free and as long as we're true to ourselves and don't try to be something we're not, then we'll be what we're meant to be.
Fun questions! And now I feel all deep which is unusual for me this early in my day. So, have some mindless rambling. The week before I was at my mother's, J.K Rowling was seen having dinner in one of the local pubs. And no one recognised her until practically the end of the meal, when I think the waitress clocked it. My mum told me that and I was all, 'Man, why would she be here?' at which point I was informed that she spent some time at school in the Forest of Dean, which would also explain the scenes set in the Forest in Hallows. And then I read the author's biography thingy at the back of Hallows and it says she was brought up in Chepstow, which is about five miles up the road from where my mother lives and very nice and pretty it is too.
The Forest is mentioned in one of my other favourite series' as well, the Thursday Next books. Except in those books, it's a place no one would ever go as is full of werewolves and vampires and evil creatures and whatnot. I read that and laughed and thought to myself that it's already full of despicable creatures that wander around aimlessly...they're called Foresters (natives of the place). Also, sheep. Lots and lots of free-roaming sheep.
Oh, and because I can't seem to stop typing - Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter has the same first name as me. I laughed.
