So, for the last two weeks I've been idly going, 'hey, isn't SPN supposed to be back early September?' and then not following up on it. Until today, when I discovered it was back last week and promptly went and downloaded it.
And then watched it, which is the proper order of things.
My thoughts are not deep and introspective and character-y like other people's but here they are.
i. Any season that starts off with AC/DC blasting out 'Thunderstruck' is clearly going to be awesome.
ii. I thought Bobby was saying those things to Sam because Sam so clearly wanted someone to say them to him. Like, he was totally a kid who had broken a favourite plate and then got freaked out when his mum didn't yell at him for it - Dean's sweeping it under the rug was just leaving it hanging and making things weird. I thought he looked more relieved than upset when 'Bobby' said that stuff, and I thought 'Bobby' was going to turn to Dean when he left the room and say something like 'he needed to hear that, I'd never abandon him' and then they would all get back to work.
Didn't see the possession thing at all. Didn't he have protection against that at some point?
iii. New!Meg annoyed me. Whatever.
iv. Lucifer's vessel is totally a poor man's Daniel Craig but I, for one, am fine with that. I think he'll make a good Satan, especially if he gets all cool and snarky. The Devil is always cool and snarky.

Thinking about it now though, it seems obvious. Zach's line 'our General is missing' practically screams at the audience no, He isn't! and He will no doubt show up at some opportune moment to save Sam and/or Dean and probably finish Lucifer off.
vi. Aha! Finale prediction - See Above. Sam and Dean (who will have been an angel condom for a time but somehow have reclaimed his body at some point before the finale) will be doing what Dean told Bobby they'd do in the hospital - fight it their way. And they will make it to the final showdown, be losing horribly and all will be lost....and then God will show up and help.
If this is the last ever series, what's the betting it'll end with two boys being called in off their bikes in Lawrence, Kansas, by their mum. Because resets and the chance to start over are always the way God/Satan things seem to end.
Or something.
ETA: I forgot to say - shut up, Dean. We all know that Sam's 'betrayal' was very recent for you and it still smarts but seriously, get over it. You know very well that by the time you've saved each other's asses a few times on the way to the smackdown with Lucifer, you'll be as tight as you always were.
Also, it amused me that no one seemed the least bit concerned about Bobby not being able to walk again. Can we say angel!fix? Dean was even smiling. No matter anyway because even if he ends up in a wheelchair, he'll still be the badass research!guy and smack their heads verbally if not physically.
Why am I not surprised that SPN is the thing to get me to make a post again? Idek. Whatever; is it still on Thursday nights? For example, tonight? If so, hurrah!
