Blather blather blather bleat
Jan. 31st, 2008 04:21 pmThis day has been productive. Go me!
Last night, I randomly picked up the leaflet of opening times/prices for the sports centre where I swim four times a week and discovered - to my greatest glee - that if I join the gym, I get unlimited access to the pool and it amounts to £25 cheaper a month! How much win is that? I can now do all my running and swimming and strength work in one place and not have to go out and run in the OMG FREEZING COLD and save myself cash at the same time. I am so smug.
So, booked my gym induction today. Did shopping. Got petrol. Transferred money between bank accounts. Even got round to adding my savings acount to my current account e-banking thingy, which I've been meaning to do for two months now.
Went to college, though I have no class today because they're studying the module I did last year. Picked up some work to be done for Monday and got my attendance registered. It's so fucking great having got such kickass marks last year, even if I only did the first set of exams - all my tutors now know that the AS work is ridiculously simple for me and pretty much just let me do my own thing. As long as I show them what I do, they're fine with it. My history teacher is kind of despairing because there's no point my getting ahead in the work 'cos then I'll just be sitting in class listening to stuff I've already done, but - and this is for real - we were given about 40 minutes to do a worksheet thing yesterday that I literally completed in ten minutes and most of the rest of the class hadn't done by the end of the lesson and had to finish it off as homework. This is not because I'm smarter than them or anything, it's because they sit around and talk shit constantly and it's faintly mental because if they just did it then it would be done and they'd know stuff and not have to constantly get yelled at for dragging their feet.
...Lord, I am SO OLD! I have to remind myself that I was exactly the same as them at that age and it is exactly the reason why I am redoing my A'Levels at the age of 28. But still. Ugh. It's so slow. Give me the syllabus and let me sit the exams next week already.
Something else which is mental: re college - people here often complain that exams have becaome easier over the years. I have to concur. For one module in history, not only are we allowed to take notes into the exam, we are given the question in advance. The question is there, the tutor teaches the subject for 4-6 weeks and then we sit the exam, in class. With our notes.
If I don't get 100% in those two exams, I think I will kill myself.
In other news - Susan, you might get your snow tomorrow after all. I was putting Evie in the car this morning and someone threw a handful of those white polystyrene balls at me. Or so I thought. Except it was actually hailing. Horizontally, I swear. It lasted about thirty seconds and then the skies were blue again. Later, I went into the supermarket with blue skies all around. I came out ten minutes later to hail so strong you could hardly see in front of your face. With the extremely strong winds we've got at the moment, it was also horizontal. And very much fun, although five minutes later it was all blue skies again. Wtf weather?
Anyway. Must go pick the baby up from nursery. Hurrah baby! :D
