I love this first meme. It also gives me a chance to play with my new ipod, which I have named Nero for reasons passing understanding, even to myself.

Put your iTunes (or other player) on the "Shuffle" setting. Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from. Please don't use Google or any other way to CHEAT, for this spoils the fun for others who actually KNOW the answer. Check off the songs when someone guesses correctly.

January: New Year was fun. This is evidenced by the way every employee at the hotel over the age of eighteen was absolutely hanging at work today.

February: I ate'nt ded.

March: Just seen The Number 23. Man, I love Jim Carrey.

April: Snippets of life, as I probably won't get near a computer until next week now.

May: I have been on a pterry reading-fest recently because I couldn't be bothered to unpack boxes and find DVD's, an ariel for my TV or basically anything that wasn't a book

June: Vague comments.

July: For lo, I came home and there was internet.

Hallelujah.

August: Answers to questions from the meme, from [livejournal.com profile] wanttobeatree

December: Rarr har har, Sunday's rock. Mwhahaha! (dead of cute once again).

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?

Had a child

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don't make them. If you want something to change, why wait until January 1st to do it?

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Ex-Housemate Jen in June and my mate Matty K's missus had their second daughter about a month ago.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No, thank goodness (couldn't have dealt well with that this year).

5. What countries did you visit?

Scotland. Which doesn't count.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?

Common sense?

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Hah! Easy. October 14th, because the pain of having a baby will never leave me! Also, the baby herself is pretty damn memorable. :)

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?

Not murdering Steve on the days I really felt like doing it.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Hmm. Apart from the aforementioned failing at common sense, I'm not sure I really failed at anything specific. I don't tend to look at anything as a failure, really.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Bronchitis in February

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Oooh. Um. Haven't bought anything major this year. I'd say my new ipod but...I didn't pay for it. So.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

My mothers', for being pretty awesome with me when I was pregnant. And my entire flist for being wonderful during that whole nightmare too.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Steve's. Obvious reasons.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Where it usually goes - rent, bills, food, junk like music and DVD's.

15. What did you get really, really excited about?

Baby!

16. What songs will always remind you of 2007?

Danny Boy sung by Eva Cassidy. Played it to death when I moved into my new flat. Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin, for both joy and sadness. And the entire Radio 1 playlist from January to August as that's what I listened to for hours every day while at work.

17. Compared to this time last year,
i. are you happier or sadder? Sadder due to complete lack of social life but happier because my daughter is made of pure awesome.

ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner. Just.

iii. richer or poorer? Srangely...richer. The government is very generous when you're a single mother.

iv. older or wiser? Older. Certainly not wiser, happily.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Sex.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Smoking. Not that I did once I found out I was up the spout, but before I knew...yeah.

20. How will you be spending New Years Eve?

The same way I spend every other evening at present, I would imagine.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?

Oh yeah.

22. How many one-night stands?

Heh! Technically none but...in reality, Steve was just many many one night stands strung together over six months. So.

23. What was your favourite TV programme?

Spooks. Or Heroes, although hmmm. No! I know! Strictly Come Dancing. I love it!

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I dont hate anyone, ever.

25. What was the best book you read?

Man. I've read so many this year, I forget. Probably my favourite was Making Money because I love pterry so much but it wasn't necessarily the best. HP and the Deathly Hallows has to be up there on that criteria too.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Dunno. Dont think I discovered anyone new this year that could be called great. The Klaxons maybe? Or The Fratellis.

27. What did you want and get?

Lots of sex.

28. What did you want and not get?

Even more sex than that.

29. What was your favourite film of this year?

Ocean's Thirteen. Was that this year? 300 maybe. They're the only movies I've been to the cinema to see this year anyway. Both rocked!

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I was 28 and ended up doing nothing because I felt terrible and didn't want to drink.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Steve not being a fuckwit for five months would have been very satisfying.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?

Jeans. T-shirts. The same as every other year really.

33. What kept you sane?

I wasn't. Through good times, there was mega-partying, through bad...quiet internal madness.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Jose Mourinho. Phwoar! And Rupert Penry-Jones off of Spooks but I fancy him every year.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

I have remained detached from all real-world events since June and before that, I was too pissed or high to care. Sort of. So, none. Although I did cheer long and hard when Tony Blair fucked off finally.

36. Who did you miss?

Nice!Steve

37. Who was the best new person you met?

Haven't met anyone new this year.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.

No matter what happens you just have to keep going, get on with it and make the best of everything. But again, that's how I try to live every year. It just had more reason to get tested in 2007.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

All that I am, all that I ever was...is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see...

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

2007 has been mental, in both good and bad ways. In all honesty though, I really think that's the best kind of year. At least something happened...better than nothing occurring whatsoever.
