Have you drawn these conclusions in person or via recordings? I know he's doing some kind of writing master-class.

Live and in the flesh! I am at a writing festival and he was supposed to talk for an hour about pitching. We got through that in about ten minutes and then veered off into anecdotes and general screenplay advice. He's so lovely. :D
