YES! YES!

YESSS! ANGELS! HEAVEN! DEAN VS SAM IN A HEAVEN/HELL CAGEFIGHT OF DOOOOOOOOM!!!1!

In other words, that was fucking awesome! Although the bit with burning-out of eyes was...ur. Yuk.

And the vessel Castiel was using was a frickin' babe. Ha. I knew this would be great. Any season that kicks of with AC/DC is bound to kick ass. And this is exactly what I wanted, to have Heaven involved. I wrote a post last season about how I found it weird that that Samanddean hadn't thought of trying to get angelic help to save Dean, seeing as they'd tried everything else. AND THIS IS WHY. I LOVE IT.

Omg, is it next week yet?

Ahaha I missed that post! But as it happens, I have a theory.

In "Houses of the Holy," we see very clearly that Dean doesn't believe in angelic beings at all, and Sam does. However, by the end of the episode, Sam's faith has been severely shaken. (Dean at that point is more of the "... okay, I don't know WHAT that was, but it was weird" school of thought.)

In "All Hell Breaks Loose 2," after John disappears, there's a moment when Sam asks Dean where he thinks their dad went. (Dean's answer? "I don't know.")

Keep in mind that at this point? Sam himself has died. (And is aware that he has.) And wherever he was -- it wasn't hell, but it evidently wasn't heaven, either.

And that's why I don't think they looked for answers from angelic/ethereal/heavenly power. Dean never did believe in that sort of influence, and Sam... no longer does.

Which adds a whole other level to what I think this season is signaling that it's going to bring. I'm unspoiled, but -- yeah. Oh, MAN.

(And on that note, excuse me while I go pick up the shattered pieces of my heart, okay? Okay.)

Ha! My post said almost the same thing re: the things the boys believe in. I think I wrote it after the episode when 'John' was calling Dean up from beyond the grave, I forget what the ep was called.

Also? I was so terribly wrong on the divine intervention thing, obviously. And I put down the lack of Heaven in the show to the network not wanting to piss viewers off, so perhaps I am cynical. Your explanation of their lack of belief these days is much nicer.
