Ashes to Ashes, part II
I love Gene Hunt.
Scary white clown is STILL FUCKING SCARY!
Is Alex an alcoholic? She's been off her face in both episodes so far.
That is all.
ETA: 'I'd be ashamed if my daughter grew up to be like you."
...OUCH. I felt bad for Alex after that one. Her mum is a bitch.
ETA 2: *sigh* Another mass shooting at a US university? What. The Fuck. World?
NOT SEEN NO SPOILERS
Also, the only good woman is a drunk woman, dontcha know?
Re: NOT SEEN NO SPOILERS
But...yes. And still scary *nodnodnod*
*raises glass* Well, obviously.
Re: NOT SEEN NO SPOILERS
And I'd for on for longer about the sexism inherent in the assumption that the female protagonist must be a lush, but i've had far too much wine tonight for that.
Re: NOT SEEN NO SPOILERS
Wine is good! If you like wine, which I don't. But I dunno. I think the writers are trying to get across that she's traumatised or something. Or maybe that she may be stuck in 1981 and have a small child etc but she can still party and have fun and therefore possibly shag blokes and be watchable! Because we all know that if she didn't do those things, everyone would be bored.

Re: NOT SEEN NO SPOILERS
Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt drank almost continuously, but we very rarely saw them actually get drunk. So it does kind of come across as overemphasising the Delicacy of the Feminine Constitution. But also: There's the point that Alex is more convinced that nothing is real than Sam was, having studied his case. So there's a bit of 'none of this matters' to her attitude.
