One good point regarding work in a kitchen ( i was told, when i did it ) is, that because of the heat and the dampness there, you´ll always have a beautiful skin :), never look old! ( But i know how it sucks, how hard it can be. )
Unfortunately drinking is no help (*sigh*), have been there, too!
